We are getting closer to home. But we decided to stop in on the Painted Desert to see more beauty before we leave this land.

The various colors are all created by iron in differing stages of oxidation. This entire area and beyond was once a sub-tropical landscape with forests and vast rivers. Thus, the petrified forest, which is part of the painted desert. I feel such an immense vastness and stillness in this area. Some of my most potent spiritual dreams have been of this landscape. I hold it as sacred in my heart.
We headed on toward Albuquerque from the eastern edges of Arizona. Familiar Sandias, and finally the Sangre de Cristos came into sight. Climbing up La Bajada hill the van was a little tired on the way up, but then she’s been 5000 miles in the past month! We crested the top and saw Santa Fe, the City of Holy Faith. We are staying here in Santa Fe for the night. Tomorrow we head for Taos, the last leg of this journey.
